About Michael W Mendelson, MD, FCCP
Dr. Mendelson shares his genuine love of medicine and compassionate care serving the community for more than 30 years. Dr. Mendelson is a Board Certified Specialist in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases. He earned his Medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and completed Fellowship training at Meadowbrook Hospital, Nassau County Public General Hospital. His commitment to service began early in his career, as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service with the Rank of Lieutenant Commander (Surgeon USPHS). He then served as President of the Medical Staff and Member of the Medical Board of John T. Mather Memorial Hospital. Dr. Mendelson was also the Director of the Department of Internal Medicine, Chief of Pulmonary Medicine, Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy, President of the Medical Board, and Member of the Board of Directors of Saint Charles Hospital, and was honored with the distinction of “President of the Staff of Saint Charles Hospital” Award. Dr. Mendelson has been appointed Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and Fellow of the Suffolk Academy of Medicine. In 2015, Dr. Mendelson was the recipient of the “Lifetime of Devotion to Service of the Public In the Practice of Medicine” by The Medical Society of the State of New York. In his personal time, Dr. Mendelson enjoys being with his family, playing piano, skiing, and traveling.
